The Role

Plant Accountant

Based in Co Kildare, Hybrid Working Week

The plant accountant will be responsible for structured operational performance reporting, decision support, challenge and approval of all operations inputs to product costings, and the integrity of the stock controls for the site. The plant accountant will play a key support role with regard to the delivery of business performance targets.

Key Responsibilities
Operational performance reporting
• Daily and weekly touchpoints in place and fully aligned with the needs of the business and across the operation
• Daily and weekly management information prepared efficiently by the appropriate team / person(s)
• Plant accounting team provide insight behind operations management information adding value to the data
• Management information used by plant accounting team to drive and challenge operations performance
• Structure and process in place to review and challenge PPV variances
• Ownership of the month end process for cost of sales ensuring journals processed and relevant reconciliations completed within agreed timelines
• Structures and processes in place to understand and drive improvement in the ‘black hole’
• Engaged and involved in process improvement initiatives supporting the operations team
• Lead the process to prepare the annual budgeted and quarterly forecasted operational variances accurately and on time.
• Input into operational aspects of the standard cost revisions
Stock Integrity
• Ensure that the stock valuation on the balance sheet is accurately reflected for all locations each month with the stock counts being efficiently co-ordinated and outputs managed
• Stock days and valuation reported and trended across the relevant product types
• Approval of stock write offs and relevant adjustment transactions above threshold
• Ownership of the weekly cycle counting process in the relevant areas of the operation
Operations costings
• Operations inputs into the product costings are challenged with the team
• Accuracy of BOMs audited on a routine basis
• Control process in place for the review and approval of BOM changes
Team
• Develop/lead the team of data controllers to deliver their key objectives
• Team members have clearly defined roles and responsibilities, objectives and KPI’s. Each team member also has a clearly defined PDP in place
• Routine meetings held to review team KPIs and ensure team aligned with business goals
• Team members met with on a 1:1 basis each month
• Ensure adequate cover across the team for delivery of critical processes
Other
• Capex payback/justification calculations for Operations capex

 

Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Language Requirements

Qualifications:
Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or CPA)

Previous Experience:
2-3 years’ experience in a supervisory role
