The Role

Assistant Accountant

Naas - Permanent

Salary: €35,000 - €40,000

Hybrid Working after Probation

 

My client is seeking to appoint an experienced Assistant Accountant on a permanent basis.

The candidate can be IATI Qualified or a Part Qualified Accountant.

 

Hybrid working will kick in after your probation of six months.

A good working knowledge of Excel will be required for this role.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Posting income to accounting system on a daily basis from various sources including realex, stripe, cash & cheques.
  • Reconciliation of bank account, and other income accounts on a weekly basis.
  • Purchase ledger support, including monitoring of purchase orders and purchase invoices.
  • Administration support in the preparation and processing of expenses
  • Working with spreadsheets and ensuring accurate data entry of information
  • Accounts receivable functions including reporting monthly and quarterly sales invoices
  • Liaising with inter departmental teams regarding fee calculations, collections and receipts.
  • Assist in other ad hoc duties where required.
  • Assisting with Financial Statements - Preparation and review of financial statements such as balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Journal Entries and General Ledger - Recording financial transactions, preparing journal entries, and maintaining the general ledger.
  • Management Reporting - Generating reports for internal management, including variance analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Financial Analysis - review financial data to identify trends, areas of improvement, and potential risk factors.
  • Budgeting and Cost Control - Supporting budget preparation and monitoring expenditure against budgeted targets.
  • Tax Compliance - Assisting with tax calculations, returns, and ensuring compliance with tax laws and regulations.
  • Audit Preparation - Helping with the audit process by preparing schedules, reconciliations, and responding to auditor inquiries.
  • Financial Systems and Processes -Contributing to the improvement of financial systems and processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

The Person

Key Skills:

  • The ideal candidate will be interested in pursuing an accounting qualification.
  • The ideal candidate must demonstrate experience in a finance administrative function.
  • Excellent attention to detail, understanding of nuances, and time management skills.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and deal with a high volume of tasks in a busy environment.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and follow procedures accurately to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work as part of a small team delivering high quality work  •  Strong hands-on data entry and administration experience is required.
  • Strong competence in MS Excel (essential) and other accounting packages (SAP an advantage)
  • Strong IT and technical skills, with experience working on a range of administration systems.
  • High degree of aptitude and ability to identify process improvements and implement changes to work processes.
  • Experience with Debtors and cash collections (desirable).
