Thermal Plant Manager
Location: Co. Offaly

Previous experience working within the Energy Sector and/or PowerPlant operation.
Our Powergen Operations Business Unit currently wish to recruit a Thermal Plant Manager. This role will report to the Head of Powergen Operations.
The main duties and responsibilities of the role will include the following:
Responsible for the safe, efficient and sustainable operation and maintenance of the assigned plant to maximise the commercial value of the business, within contractual and legal requirements.
Play a proactive role as part of the senior management team in the development and implementation of the Business Unit strategy, provide expertise in the choice and sourcing of technology and identify strategic CI and cost saving opportunities for continued successful operation of the Thermal generating assets.
Manage the plant within budgets and delivering targets by the co-ordination of the team activities through motivation and leadership. Manage and control costs to ensure optimisation of the efficiency and cost effectiveness of the Plant.
Establish and maintain a safe working environment and safe systems of work, supporting initiatives that will improve the health and safety and welfare of employees. Ensure compliance with all environmental regulations.
Ensure that the operation and maintenance of the plant is carried out to best industry standards to ensure that maximum commercial benefit is attained from the assets and the integrity of the assets is projected.
Develop a succession plan for the plant and ensure associated people development plans are implemented. Lead the engagement planning process for the plant ensuring an action plan is developed in conjunction with the team and implemented.
Coach & mentor the plant management team to support their development and transition to operations.

As a key member of the Senior Management team, proactively use the Performance Management process as a means to support resource planning within your team and the wider organisation.
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualification, skills, knowledge and attributes:
BSc Degree in engineering or related technical discipline;
5 + years’ experience in a similar role;
Significant experience in the Energy sector, and or Thermal power generation Assets;
Senior management experience is necessary;
Experience in Power Plant operation with Solid Fuel experience preferable;
Excellent communication skills are essential for the role;
Ability to work within a collaborative team environment;
Proficiency in the English language is a requirement, alongside eligibility to work in Ireland;
