The Role

Senior Financial Accountant -Permanent

Hybrid (possibly 2 days in the office , 3 from home)

 

Reporting to the Financial Controller

1. Prepare accurate, effective and timely monthly management accounts to include P&L’s, Balance Sheet, Forecasts & Cash Flow supported by detailed schedules including variance analysis and reports of actual v’s budgeted & forecasted performance.
2. Develop reports and analysis to provide insights on business/product line performance making recommendations, contributing to business decision making and to contribute to the development and reporting of site and entity KPIs.
3. Key role in the development, implementation and ongoing operational review of policies and procedures thus ensuring a strong internal controls environment facilitating the presentation of accurate financial data.
4. Pivotal role in preparation of the annual financial budget for review and approval for agreed deadlines.
5. To support development of financial modelling techniques, tools and reports for preparation of tenders and new business plan proposals. In particular to support sales team creating new business proposals and site managers creating business cases for new activities.
6. Key involvement with the internal and external statutory audit process, including the completion of internal reviews and resolution of any internal control recommendations by auditors. To provide support where required in the preparation of annual Financial Statements for external audit and presentation to the Board for approval.
7. Support Financial Controller in preparation for Board meetings and attend where required, including preparation of ad hoc reports or responses to Board queries.
8. Monitor operational and financial activities to ensure full adherence to Group and Enterprise policies, procedures and risk appetite, bringing to the attention of Senior Management any concerns observed.
9. Maintenance and update of fixed asset register and ensuring appropriate procedures are in place to monitor and manage fixed assets including vehicles.
10. Provide proactive line management of assigned finance staff in line with the core values and objectives of the company. To support wider corporate management team in decision making process in relation to financial matters.

The Person

 Minimum 5 years PQE experience within a commercial industrial environment- essential
 Proven experience in using a relevant operations and financial software package- essential (EFACS an advantage)
 Working to tight deadlines complex accounting function—essential

 Proven practical application and understanding of accounting knowledge.
 Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
 Excellent numeracy, analytical and conceptual skills.
 Excellent planning and organisational skills with experience of maintaining accurate records.

 Excellent time management skills.
 Self-motivated and willing to learn new skills.
 Strong IT skills (all Microsoft Office standard packages) and with proven experience with relevant financial software packages.
 Experience of providing support in a busy environment with many different contacts.
 Proven ability to work on own initiative, work under pressure and meet weekly/monthly deadlines.
