The Role

Transport Manager / Planner

Location: Ireland

Job Type: Full-time

Annual Salary - €47,000

We are looking for an experienced and highly organised Transport Planner / Manager to join our client's busy transport operation.

This is a hands-on role where you will be responsible for coordinating the release, collection and delivery of containers, planning driver routes and ensuring our customers receive an efficient, reliable and professional service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and coordinate the daily release, collection and delivery of containers.
  • Efficiently plan and dispatch driver routes to maximise service and operational efficiency.
  • Coordinate all transport activities to ensure the smooth running of the depot.
  • Ensure all customers are kept fully informed of delivery and collection schedules.
  • Deal professionally with customer queries and issues by telephone and email.
  • Monitor and resolve operational issues, escalating problems where necessary.
  • Complete all required transport administration accurately and efficiently.
  • Ensure delivery procedures, company policies and operational standards are consistently followed.
  • Liaise effectively with Accounts, POD and Operations teams to resolve issues promptly.
  • Ensure the efficient dispatch of all routes and products to customers each day.
  • Support drivers and the wider transport team with day-to-day operational requirements.
  • Maintain a high level of customer service throughout all transport activities.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant transport legislation and company procedures.

The Person

We are looking for someone who is confident, organised and able to work effectively in a busy transport environment.

You will have:

  • 3+ years' experience in transport operations.
  • Previous experience in container transport
  • Strong transport planning experience within a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical and organisational skills.
  • The ability to make effective decisions under pressure and within tight deadlines.
  • A flexible and adaptable approach to meet changing business requirements.
  • Strong knowledge of the transportation industry.
  • Good knowledge of Department of Transport regulations, including Tachograph legislation and Working Time Directive requirements.
  • Good geographical knowledge of Ireland.
  • Proven ability to manage and coordinate a team to deliver high standards of service.
  • A hands-on approach and the confidence to make decisions and take ownership.
  • The ability to plan and organise your own workload and that of your team safely and efficiently.
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word.
  • Strong time-management skills.
  • A customer-focused approach.
  • A high level of flexibility and the ability to resolve issues quickly and effectively.
