The Role

Financial Controller (Maternity Cover)

12 month contract 

Kilkenny (Hybrid)

We are seeking a highly analytical and commercially minded Financial Controller to join a finance team on a fixed-term basis.
The role is integral to the delivery of accurate financial reporting, strong financial controls, and full regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities
• Lead the preparation and delivery of monthly management accounts, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and timeliness across all entities
• Maintain, develop, and implement robust accounting policies and internal financial controls, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulatory requirements
• Monitor and review costs on an ongoing basis, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities to improve financial performance and efficiency
• Oversee and coordinate year-end processes and reporting inputs across all business units, ensuring timely completion
• Ensure all statutory, regulatory, and compliance returns are completed accurately and submitted on time
• Coordinate and manage audits, tax reviews, and act as the primary finance liaison with external stakeholders
• Lead, develop, and strengthen the finance team, promoting best practice and continuous improvement
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, providing clear financial insight and support

 

The Person

• An ACA/ACCA qualified accountant with a minimum of five years’ post-qualification experience
• Experienced in a Financial Controller role within a medium to large organisation (e.g. €10m+ turnover)
• Skilled in financial reporting across multiple entities or business units
• Experienced in preparing statutory audit files and managing external audit processes
• A strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills
• Commercially aware with a focus on delivering high-quality outcomes
• Experienced or interested in finance transformation initiatives (advantageous)
• Familiar with financial systems (experience with ERP/accounting platforms advantageous)
• Motivated by helping businesses achieve their potential
