Inventory Assistant Accountant

Office Based 

 

My client is seeking to appoint an experienced Inventory Assistant Accountant on a permanent basis.

The ideal candidate will need to be a part qualified accountant with a strong background within Stocks / Inventory

 

A good working knowledge of Excel is required for this role.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • End-to-end ownership of inventory process control.
  • Issue daily, weekly and monthly production and purchase reports.
  • Review inventory data across all stock locations in the system, ensuring balances are accurate and movements are posted correctly.
  • Reconcile the accounting system to the inventory system weekly and monthly.
  • Coordinate and oversee stock counts with warehouse and production teams.
  • Investigate differences between system and physical stock.
  • Take ownership of inventory discrepancies and ensure root causes are permanently addressed.
  • Update standard costs in the system, review stock values for accuracy, and highlight recurring usage or yield discrepancies to the Commercial Accountant.
  • Investigate material, labour and purchase price variances with the production team, and post month-end variance journals.
  • Reconcile goods received not invoiced and goods dispatched not invoiced.
  • Prepare yield and wastage reports.
  • Storage analysis and posting of accruals.
  • Balance sheet reconciliations where applicable.
  • Support year-end audit with stock-related schedules and queries.
  • Export documentation.
  • Power BI reconciliations as applicable.
  • Ad hoc duties as required.

The Person

Key Skills:

  • CIMA or ACCA part qualified accountant with at least 3 years' experience.
  • A background in a manufacturing environment is essential especially in the areas of inventory management and reporting.
  • Good understanding of stock valuation and standard costing.
  • Identify and implement improvements to inventory processes, controls and data quality.
  • Advanced/expert in Excel and ideally Power BI reporting tools.
  • ERP system experience (Sage Intact & Tulip).
  • Evidence of making improvements to existing ways of working.
  • Demonstrable experience of harnessing business intelligence and data analytic tools to deliver business improvements, including cost reduction and efficiencies.
