The Role

Customs Administration Assistant 

Location: Newcastle, Co. Dublin (own transport preferable)
Job Type: Full-Time / Contract position (Maternity Leave cover)
Salary: €35,000 - €37,000 DOE

We are currently seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Customs Clearance Transport & Logistics Clerk to join our client's growing operations team based in Newcastle, Co. Dublin.

The successful candidate will play a key role in managing import/export documentation, ensuring customs compliance, and coordinating transport operations across Ireland, the UK, and Europe.

Key Responsibilities Customs & Compliance

  • Prepare, process, and submit import and export declarations accurately and within required deadlines.
  • Ensure compliance with Revenue and HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) regulations.
  • Operate and manage customs systems including Thyme-IT and AIS.
  • Verify commercial invoices, packing lists, commodity codes, customs values, and origin documentation.
  • Liaise with customs authorities to resolve clearance queries, inspections, and discrepancies.
  • Maintain accurate customs records in line with audit and compliance requirements.
  • Monitor customs and regulatory updates to ensure ongoing compliance.

Transport & Logistics Coordination

  • Plan and coordinate transport movements across Ireland, the UK, and Europe.
  • Schedule driver assignments, delivery timelines, and load planning.
  • Prepare logistics documentation including CMRs, delivery notes, manifests, and transport declarations.
  • Ensure all shipments are customs-cleared prior to dispatch where required.
  • Track shipments and proactively address delays or operational issues.
  • Maintain clear communication with drivers, warehouse teams, customers, and external partners.

The Person

Skills & Experience Required

  • 2–3 years’ experience in customs clearance, freight forwarding a MUST
  • Strong understanding of UK/EU customs procedures and import/export documentation.
  • Familiarity with Revenue and HMRC regulations.
  • Experience managing Irish, UK, and European shipments.
  • Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritise workloads and meet strict deadlines.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Outlook, and Word.
  • Experience using customs software systems such as Thyme-IT and AIS is highly desirable.
