The Role

Financial Accountant
Location: Co. Meath
Job Type: Full-time ***Fully office based**
Schedule: Monday to Friday (8 – 5) FLEX
Reports to: CEO & Finance Director

 

This is a key role within the Finance function and offers the opportunity to work closely with senior leadership while overseeing critical financial operations across Ireland and the UK.

Role Summary:
Reporting directly to the CEO & Finance Director, the Financial Accountant will be responsible for the preparation and analysis of financial information to support business decision-making and ensure regulatory compliance. The role will involve hands-on management of core finance functions and close collaboration with internal teams and external auditors.

Key Responsibilities:
• Team Management: Lead and support the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable team (2 direct reports), ensuring efficient day-to-day operations.
• Bank Reconciliations: Oversee and ensure the accuracy of weekly and monthly bank reconciliations for both Irish and UK entities.
• Stock Control: Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure robust stock accounting practices.
• Tax Compliance: Prepare and submit VAT returns, VIES, and Intrastat returns in accordance with Irish and UK tax regulations.
• Payroll Oversight: Manage the payroll process for both jurisdictions, ensuring timely and compliant processing.
• Month-End Close: Prepare and post monthly journals and assist in closing activities, including accruals, prepayments, and other adjustments.
• Balance Sheet Integrity: Ensure all balance sheet accounts are reconciled accurately and in a timely manner.
• Management Reporting: Produce monthly management accounts with variance analysis, commentary, and performance insights.
• Audit Support: Assist in the preparation and coordination of annual audits (Ireland and UK), providing necessary documentation and responses.

 

The Person

Required Skills & Qualifications:
• Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with a minimum of 3 years’ post-qualification experience.
• Proven ability to lead and develop a small finance team.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a hands-on approach.
• High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and solid working knowledge of other MS Office applications.
• Confident communicator with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with external stakeholders.
• Self-motivated, adaptable, and capable of working independently to meet tight deadlines.
