The Role
Job Responsibilities
• Utilise experience and knowledge to run a number of payrolls end to end
• Query resolutions
• Implement, improve and maintain payroll checklists, introducing best practice and internal control procedures where appropriate
• Ensure timeliness and deadlines on all payroll cycles are met by the team
• Administer and develop time and attendance systems for accuracy, auditing outputs
• Compiling payroll/ad hoc reporting
• Committing, opening and closing payrolls each pay period
• Assist payroll administrators with day to day processing and development
• Ensure all errors are reported via the error report
• Assist Head of Pay and Benefits, Payroll Manager, HR and stations with ad hoc requirements
• Interpret company policies, contractual terms, and government regulations affecting payroll and entitlements.
• Respond to notifications from state agencies or others regarding former employment of unemployment claims filed by former or existing employees
The Person
Qualifications and Competencies
• Certified Payroll certification preferred
• Work experience in a fast paced payroll environment working with multiple locations and varying terms and conditions
• Ability to use all Microsoft Office applications with a strong emphasis on Excel and Spreadsheets
• Previous experience using Payroll and Time & Attendance Software – Sage Micropay
• Ability to apply common sense thorough understanding of legislation and various laws as they apply to payroll processing
• Ability to be able to calculate payslips manually
• Ability to carry out detailed and sometimes complicated written and oral instructions
• Ability to deal with problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations
• Ability to effectively present information to the Payroll Team and in one-on-one and small group situations as well as other employees of the company.
