Payroll / Accounts Assistant

My client is seeking to appoint an experienced Payroll / Accounts Assistant on a permanent basis.
Candidates will need to have a minimum of three years’ experience in a similar role and have a good understanding of processing payroll.
Experience using Sage Line 50 and Sage Payroll would be a distinct advantage
Candidates must have a good working knowledge of Excel
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage banking transactions, reconciliations, and supplier payments.
- Maintain accounting records using Sage (or similar) software.
- Management of Debtor and Creditor ledgers
- Raise customer invoices and ensure timely recording of payments received
- Follow up on overdue accounts and assist in credit control efforts
- Reconciliation of Purchase Orders placed to Supplier Invoices received and identify any anomalies
- Identifying and allocating costs to various Departments
- Conducting monthly supplier statement reconciliations
- Intercompany reconciliations
- Posting credit card transactions to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Prepare financial reports (Income & Expenditure, month-end reconciliations).
- Assist with year-end accounts and audits
- Assist with weekly Payroll processing
- Participate in Revenue filings for PAYE, VAT, RCT obligations
- Assist with advertising efforts by performing monthly mail merge of company brochure to potential new timber suppliers
- Updating database with new leads for future contact
- Assist with social media and raising Company awareness
- Partake in developing and implementing new organisational policies
- Maintain confidentiality of financial information and adhere to all company policies and procedures.
- Manage electronic files and documentation
- Other Ad hoc duties as and when needed
The Person
Key Skills:
- BBS/BA in Business and Accounting or similar qualification
- Proficiency in Sage 50 accounting software and MS Office, particularly Excel.
- Minimum 3 years Finance Department experience
- Full clean driving license
- Good time management skills and ability to work to tight deadlines
- Track record of self-motivation and demonstrated ability to take initiative
- Highly developed organisational skills and a high standard attention to detail
