Payroll / Accounts Assistant

My client is seeking to appoint an experienced Payroll / Accounts Assistant on a permanent basis.

Candidates will need to have a minimum of three years’ experience in a similar role and have a good understanding of processing payroll.

Experience using Sage Line 50 and Sage Payroll would be a distinct advantage

Candidates must have a good working knowledge of Excel

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage banking transactions, reconciliations, and supplier payments.
  • Maintain accounting records using Sage (or similar) software.
  • Management of Debtor and Creditor ledgers
  • Raise customer invoices and ensure timely recording of payments received
  • Follow up on overdue accounts and assist in credit control efforts
  • Reconciliation of Purchase Orders placed to Supplier Invoices received and identify any anomalies
  • Identifying and allocating costs to various Departments
  • Conducting monthly supplier statement reconciliations
  • Intercompany reconciliations
  • Posting credit card transactions to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Prepare financial reports (Income & Expenditure, month-end reconciliations).
  • Assist with year-end accounts and audits
  • Assist with weekly Payroll processing
  • Participate in Revenue filings for PAYE, VAT, RCT obligations
  • Assist with advertising efforts by performing monthly mail merge of company brochure to potential new timber suppliers
  • Updating database with new leads for future contact
  • Assist with social media and raising Company awareness
  • Partake in developing and implementing new organisational policies
  • Maintain confidentiality of financial information and adhere to all company policies and procedures.
  • Manage electronic files and documentation
  • Other Ad hoc duties as and when needed

The Person

Key Skills:

  • BBS/BA in Business and Accounting or similar qualification
  • Proficiency in Sage 50 accounting software and MS Office, particularly Excel.
  • Minimum 3 years Finance Department experience
  • Full clean driving license
  • Good time management skills and ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Track record of self-motivation and demonstrated ability to take initiative
  • Highly developed organisational skills and a high standard attention to detail
  • Flexible working conditions
