The Role

Role: Management Accountant
Full Time Contract Position 2 years with scope to become permanent

Role Purpose:
Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Management Accountant is required to be a strong business focused accountant who will have experience of working within a manufacturing environment. The role will participate in the delivery of accurate and timely financial information for the company and will provide business partnering to the commercial and production function.
The business is developing its key ERP (currently Emydex) and financial reporting systems (currently Sage). A key objective of the role will be the development of existing reporting and to be integral to the implementation of more automated and timely reporting for production and sales which will facilitate the optimisation of working capital within the organisation.
Ensuring alignment with the company’s objectives and continued competitiveness of the company.

Key Responsibilities:
Financial Oversight
o Establish processes that are effective and efficient in both delivery of both short- and longer-term plans.
Reporting
o Oversee timely and accurate reporting throughout the business, adhering to strict and meaningful deadlines.
o Take a lead in the delivery of the weekly scorecard
o Generation of existing reports within the business and the development of new reports, some examples would be
 Sales Report
 Labour Report
 Customer Margin
 Weekly KPI’s
 Prepare weekly production file
• Including weekly stock reconciliations

Commercial Support
o Maintain constant business focus on sales price costings, margin improvement and overhead recovery
o Partner with the commercial function providing the financial reporting & insight required
o Support the Sales team with any customer specific requirements, evaluation of new business opportunities and performance against SLA’s

Monthly & Weekly Accounts
o Play an integral part in the generation and development of the monthly accounts providing the required support to the existing Accountant who will take the lead on the account’s generation.
o Weekly accounts to gross margin to be commenced and playing a part in the development will be important.
o Reconcile the weekly finished goods stock and investigate stock and cut off variances
o Update standard cost information
o Analysis of monthly stock purchases
o Support with monthly expenses analysis
o Development of cashflow and other balance sheet reporting

Leadership
o Constantly review and improve Ml throughout the business with a particular focus on utilising business intelligence and data analytic tools in order to highlight trends and trading themes within the business.
o Interpret daily, weekly and monthly financial information in this fast-paced environment, ensuring that key issues are highlighted swiftly and addressed at the appropriate level.
o Work within the financial team to lead by example with the aim of developing as a better team member and therefore a better team.
o Actively participate in and lead by example through all change mgmt. initiatives

 

 

The Person

Essential

o CIMA or ACCA qualified accountant with a minimum 3 years PQ experience.
o A background in a manufacturing environment is essential especially in the areas of product costings and commercial analysis.
o Advanced/ expert in Excel and familiar with BI reporting tools
o Evidence of making improvements to existing ways of working
o Demonstrable experience of harnessing business intelligence and data analytic tools to deliver business improvements, including cost reduction and efficiencies.
o Experience of participation in managing change and implementing new processes and ways of working
