The Role
As Cost Accountant within the Finance team, your core responsibilities include:
- Act as Finance Business Partner to Production Teams;
- The maintenance & development of accurate Product Costings and Bills of Material for the business;
- Work with and challenge operations on product costings so as to ensure costings are appropriate for volumes, commercially viable and operationally achievable;
- Work cross functionally to identify, support and influence cost reduction and process improvement initiatives across inventory, yield, purchasing, labour and overheads.
- Inventory reconciliations and validation, including stock count co-ordination
- Preparation and reporting of labour and process yields results/variances and inventory adjustments
- Inventory valuation and the reconciliation of gross margin per the management accounts to the weekly KPI report.
- Manage a team of data controllers/production analysts gathering timely and accurate production and financial data
- Investigation of variances to assist in root cause analysis and to partner with the Production team to understand and remediate adverse cost drivers
- Work with finance, operations and the ERP Project team to develop standardised reporting that meets the management / financial reporting requirements of finance and operations
- Completion of the quarterly forecasts and the annual budget submission.
- Development and implementation of internal controls.
The Person
Requirements:
- Strong cost systems experience with excellent numerical and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Motivated, self-starter with background in process improvement
- Ability to adopt to multiple tasks and a changing environment
- Computer literacy and a high level of Excel expertise essential
- Experience of integrated ERP and Lean Systems advantageous
- Fluency of English both written and verbal
Qualifications:
- Ideally Qualified CIMA / ACCA / ACA / CPA
